Focus on: Daria Goncharenko - Parisian Painter

You may recognize Daria from a previous feature on Le Thé Chic - she is also a painter as well as being a co-owner of a French Tea Brand. For this interview, we explore exclusively her background in Art, her style and a little bit more about her favorite places in Paris.

How long have you been living and working in Paris?

It’s been 9 years since i’m living in Paris, can’t believe how time flies fast.

What is your education in arts?

I attended Parsons School of Arts in Paris and then changed to French one called Maryse Eloy. Because i obtained a diploma in graphic design i had to take extra classes during my free time with an established artist in order to improve my painting technique.

How would you describe your style of painting?

I would say my style is raw, abstract, expressive, sometimes childish but it definitely captures attention and imagination.

Who is your art for?

My art is for everybody who appreciates vibrant colors and one of a kind paintings.

What inspires you?

Interesting, undiscovered places, modern art, bold colours, and also paintings of early Renaissance masters because of their masterful, almost realistic quality.

Name your favorite Parisian spots to spend time?

Paris is a beautiful city with many nice spots but my favorite would be Jardin de Tuileries and river Seine boardwalk.

Give us a couple of your favorite café/restaurant recommendations?

I’m a real fan of French cuisine so i often go to SAVY (23 rue Bayard, 75008), a small, welcoming restaurant with traditional food. When it comes to cafe CAOUA (98 Quai de Jemmapes, 75010) is my favorite place because it has a perfect view of Canal St Martin, their coffee and pain perdu (French toast) are great.
