Focus on: Elena - Arietis Jewelry
When was Arietis Jewelry born?
I have always loved doing something special and handmade. Presents for my friends and family. But it did not go beyond the hobby for a long time.
But 2 years ago i started selling my little creations, and so, the hobby began to bring not only pleasure, but also money.
Since we change our location every few years, i need to have mobile business, regardless of the city i would live in. Now is the time when there are no borders and you can bring your creations to large number of people and it is necessary to appreciate and use such opportunities.
To do what you love and make people a little happier - what else there is to life?
What does Arietis mean?
When I started to choose a name for my brand, i was looking for something special, something, that SPARKS JOY ( favourite line from Marie Kondo book)
I looked for all kinds of names in all different languages, and then out of nowhere i started to read about Aries constellation, which is my sign )))) And here it is, Alpha Arietis, or simply Arietis, the brightest star of constellation!!!!
The position of Arietis used to afford important facilities to nautical science. Difficult to comprehend as it may be, but skilful navigator who should be lost in an unknown sea, could, by measuring the distance between Arietis and the Moon, determine at once not only the spot he was in, but his true course and distance to any known meridian or harbour on the earth.
That was all i needed! It sparked Joy in me!
Who are your clients?
When you have your own little company, you design what you like., i think itβs the most important!!!! My creations should be representative of the woman I am and the woman I'm striving to be. And when you feel that, you attract the same people, that like what you like. Young and stylish girls, who follow the fashion, love beautiful accessories, but still want to look unique.
What inspires you to create new collections?
Of course current trends and what is coming out is influential in every piece , but you then need to build around that and translate what it means to you. I order jewellery findings from many different places, then i just put it all on the table and go from there.
Where are you from and how did you come to France?
Originally Iβm from small ex-soviet country Kyrgyzstan, but I am Russian. I left my country in 2006 to move first to Montreal and then from there on i lived in Moscow, Bakou, Paris and last 6 months I am living my best life in Nice, South of France.
We moved to France, because my husband works in hospitality business, so we travel quite a lot. Itβs been more than 4 years we are here and we love it. So fingers cross, we will stay here much longer!!!
Give us some tips for what is popular this season?
The S/S 19 runways shown so many exciting jewelry trends of all kinds. Weβre seeing the return of jewelry thatβs colorful and statement-making.
My favourite are Pearls, everywhere and in in all sizes!
Heavy Hoops, which never go out if style, but each season take a new form.
Chains of all shapes and sizes.
Coins, coins, coinsβ¦. Everything form necklaces to earrings.
Charms, which we used to love as a child, are also back!
Lots of flowers, which are perfect for summer. Look for earrings and pendants.
Drop earrings, which meant to grab everyones attention!!!
What is your favourite piece youβve ever created?
I think every season i have new favourite piece. Last year i loved my tassel earrings with Swarovski crystals, this winter it was velvet accessories. And now, my favourite ones are hoop pearl earrings. I just love them and wear them all the time!
When in Paris, what are your favourite places to visit ( cafe, restaurants, museums)?
Paris has a special place in my heart. Weβve lived there for 4 years! This city has so much to offer and i met so many wonderful and talented people.
I think my favourite thing to do was to wake up early and go for a walk, when the city is just waking up. Smell of fresh bread and coffee is divine. You choose terrace that speaks to you, order cup of espresso and just enjoy. Everythingβ¦β¦ passing by people, opening of the shops, singing of birdsβ¦.. There is nothing better.
For places to eat i would always go to eat in one of the Big Mamma Group italian restaurants, my favourite is Pink Mamma, 20bis Rue de Douai.
If i crave japanese, then itβs Kunitoraya, on 1 Rue Villedo.
For fresh and simple french cuisine , Les Philosophes, 28 rue Vieille du Temple. Itβs in Marais district, which is my favourite in Paris. Plenty of little cafe and shops, small beautiful streets and atmosphere.
I always go to the gardens of Palais Royal, itβs in a heart of Paris, but itβs so cozy and quite there. It also have cafe Kitsune, which i can never miss.
